This project addresses the program as a series of sequential temples resonating from the lava stone landscapes. The project is named “BEMA”. The Ancient Greek bēma (βῆμα) means both ‘platform’ and ‘step’, being derived from bainein (βαίνειν, ‘to go’). The original use of the bema in Athens was as a tribunal from which orators addressed the citizens as well as the courts of law, for instance, in the Pnyx.
Before embarking on the trail, the visitor encounters the observation tower, which one can ascend to access the roof of the coffee shop as another social platform, or climb to the highest point to overlook BEMA, seen as a work of art.
